Helping the world to see more.

Kevin Oberbauer and Yuko Shiroma founded the Lucent Institute in 2018 over a shared belief in the need for art that uses the language and practices of industry and technology to illustrate ways of thinking that are overlooked or unknown. Shiroma is an artist and technologist who has ghost-colored comics for DC, Marvel and other major publishers and currently works as the Head of Product and Technology for a women’s fashion company. Oberbauer is an MFA graduate from Goldsmiths College and works as a creative director for major brands. He installed the first unofficial Lucent work at the Tate Modern in 2007; a piece of industrial signage/graffiti with a coded braille message that hid in plain site for months.
